Danger

Check for danger to yourself, bystanders and the casualty before you approach. Make the area safe.

What you'll learn

  • Recognise cardiac arrestIdentify an unresponsive casualty who isn't breathing normally and call for help.
  • Adult CPRCompressions and rescue breaths at the right depth and rate, on the floor.
  • Child and infant CPRAdapt hand position, depth and breaths for children and babies.
  • Using an AEDAttach pads and follow the prompts of a defibrillator.

How you're assessed

Assessment is practical. You'll demonstrate continuous CPR on an adult manikin on the floor and on an infant manikin, show safe use of an AED, and complete a short knowledge check. You'll have time to practise first.

Need full first aid? CPR is included in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, so one day covers both.
