About this course

You'll build the skills to keep people and property safe, manage risk and respond to emergencies. Training combines practical work, simulations and real-life scenarios, led by trainers with industry experience.

Before you start

  • To apply for a Victorian private security licence you must be 18 or older and an Australian resident or hold a visa with work rights.
  • You'll need to be physically able to respond to emergencies, including performing CPR on a manikin on the floor.
  • Victoria Police assesses licence applicants as fit and proper, including a police check, fingerprints and suitability references.
  • Already hold a current HLTAID011? Tell us when you enrol and ask about credit for the first aid unit.

Who can apply for a security licence in Victoria?
Applicants must be 18 or older and an Australian resident or hold a visa with work rights. Victoria Police also assesses whether you are a fit and proper person, which includes a police check, fingerprints and suitability references.
Is first aid included?
Yes. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is one of the 14 units in the CPP20218 qualification. If you already hold a current HLTAID011, let us know when you enrol.
What is the difference between full time and part time?
Both lead to the same qualification for the same fee. Full time is completed over 18 sessions and part time over 36, so you can fit training around work or study.
